Follow standard Precautions for Infection Control

1.  Treat all blood and all body substances of all people as potentially infectious, all of the time.

(Universal Precaution)

2.  HANDWASH after any direct contact with a patient.

3.  NEVER recap needles.

4.  Dispose of used needles and sharps carefully, immediately after you have finished using them.

5.  Wear gloves if your hands are going to have direct contact with blood or body substances.

6.  Clean up blood spills carefully and immediately.

7.  Dispose the wastes carefully according to biomedical waste guidelines.
